As we move towards the end of another year, many of us find ourselves reflecting on the year gone by, and is some cases, gaze further into our past. It’s a time to consider why things are the way they are, and to contemplate the need for change going forward. Whilst doing this, and spending a little time on LinkedIn, I came across a video within which a Turkish Airline pilot acknowledged a special passenger on his flight – his school teacher. For those interested, you will find it here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06C_IG5N7S0.
Fortunately for me, I had no need to understand the language spoken. The sentiment transcended language. Without understanding the words, it communicated to me the regard in which the pilot held his school teacher, and the significance of his school teacher’s contribution to the life that he had lived. It stimulated me to think about those that have taught me throughout my life – at home, primary and secondary school, at university and through the course of my professional life. Like many others I wouldn’t be the person that I am today without the support and guidance received from many others. You’ve gone a long way towards shaping what we are. So - to all teachers out there – thank you and best wishes for the festive season.
